The Turin papyrus map is considered the oldest known cartographic representation of this kind, dating back to 3175 years ago. In the Egyptian Museum in Turin, the map is divided into three fragments, with an archival numbering of “P. Turin 1879, 1899, and 1869”. The current study doesn’t challenge the results and conclusions of milestone papers, which was presented in the previous decades to decipher the papyrus content. This paper aims to analyse the previous literatures, since the late 19th century until now, written in English, French, German and Italian. In addition, the paper drew major information from the regional field investigation accomplished by the author in the previous years across a wide area stretching from the Red Sea coastline to the Nile Valley; where the author updated information with recent modifications, especially the human-induced changes and hazards on the physical and cultural landscapes.

摘要
