Global Atmospheric Trends and Climate Change: A Comprehensive Analysis of Greenhouse Gases and Temperature (2003–2020)

This chapter presents a comprehensive analysis of global trends in key atmospheric components-methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2), water vapor, ozone (O3), and global temperature-over the period from 2003 to 2020. These components are critical indicators of climate change, each contributing to the greenhouse effect and impacting global weather patterns. Using datasets from satellite observations and ground-based measurements, the analysis reveals a consistent rise in CO2 and CH4 conc., caused mostly by human activities such as burning of fossil fuels, industrial processes, and agriculture. Ozone trends are more variable, influenced by both natural processes and international efforts to reduce ozone-depleting substances. Water vapor, a key feedback element in the climate system, is shown to increase in conjunction with rising global temperatures. The global temperature analysis indicates a clear upward trend, highlighting the intensifying impacts of global warming. The results of this study underscore the interconnectedness of atmospheric gases and temperature, offering insights into the ongoing changes in the Earth's climate system. These findings are crucial for understanding future climate projections and guiding mitigation strategies to address climate change.
