The Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Academic Stress and Academic Performance among University Students
摘要
Academic stress directly affects university students’ mental health and academic achievement globally. The present study explores the role of Emotional Intelligence (EI) at five dimensions: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills in reducing academic stress and increasing academic performance. Objective: Based on a comprehensive literature review and analysis, the present study aims to investigate an association between emotional intelligence (EI) and academic stress among students. Additionally, this illustrates that students with stronger EI maintain better achievement levels in-course assessment and sets a model to show the positive impacts of EI on overall student success. These results highlight the importance of implementing educational programs to develop EI in curricula to provide students with much-needed strategies for efficiently dealing with stress and thus contribute to their all-round development. Educators, counselors, and policymakers can benefit from this study because having high EI levels is crucial for the welfare of students.
