High-frequency ultrasound, predominantly used in radiology, has progressed in recent years to other fields of medicine, most notably aesthetic medicine. Facial ultrasound, previously limited to the clinical assessment of varying dermatological conditions, has now gained increased acceptance and use as a valuable tool in day to day clinical practice by aesthetic clinicians to identify the layers of the face, previously injected filler materials, to locate important vascular structures and to assist during aesthetic treatments [1].
