At several localities on Samosir Island, viscous rhyolitic magma oozed to the surface and produced small, steep-sided piles of lava known as lava domes. Clusters of lava domes occur near lake level at Tuk-Tuk and Batu-Batu east of the Samosir Fault, as well as on the uplifted portion of Samosir at Sigornang and Janji Mariatoruan.
