Global agriculture faces the dual challenge of feeding a growing population while preserving the environment. Regrettably, traditional farming methods have led to significant environmental damage. Consequently, there is an increased emphasis on investigating the beneficial effects of plant-associated microorganisms in crops as a green and sustainable alternative. One such promising area of study is the rhizosphere mycobiome, a dynamic and intricate community of fungi inhabiting the root zone, which holds immense potential for sustainable agriculture. These fungi play a multifaceted role in enhancing crop productivity, managing pests and pathogens, and promoting soil health. Mycorrhizal symbiosis and rhizosphere fungi, in particular, are crucial in facilitating nutrient uptake and improving soil structure.
