摘要

The Rhizosphere is a dynamic and complex niche with a rich microbial diversity nourished by organic compounds released by roots. The rhizobiome is the microbial community present in the soil surrounding the root zone under the influence of root exudates. Plant health is a crucial factor for global crop production which is threatened by various abiotic and biotic factors. The use of pesticides for biotic stress management leaves environmental footprints and affects the ecosystem functioning. The rhizobiome has a unique functional role in determining plant health in terms of growth and disease protection, which ultimately reduces crop yield losses and enhances production. Rhizospheric microorganisms from healthy plants are exploited to manage diverse diseases, and further induce plant resistance mechanisms. This chapter elucidates the concept of rhizobiome, rhizobiome recruitment by plants, and its role in biotic stress management.
