The rhizosphere is a focal point for microbial relationships due to the exudates released by roots. They are the mainstay of microbial nutrition and play a significant role in influencing the population density and functions of many microorganisms. The rhizosphere is a complex environment that supports a diverse range of species. While some of them have a neutral impact on the plant, others are attracted to the rhizosphere and may either have harmful or beneficial impacts. The organisms that affect plant development and their general well-being include pathogenic fungi, oomycetes, bacteria, and nematodes. The majority of soilborne pathogens have developed adaptations that allow them to thrive and persist in bulk soil. However, it is inside the rhizosphere that they actively engage with the plant, establishing a parasitic connection. The rhizosphere is a dynamic environment where the pathogens effectively infect the plant, including a diverse array of microflora and microfauna components engaged in intricate interactions.
