This chapter focuses on the under-recognized contributions of women to the WEIZAC project. While Pekeris’s leadership was essential, the project relied on the support of a skilled team of collaborators. Women mathematicians like Alterman, Lifson, and Kornfeld played a critical role in the project, as did the electrical engineer Estrin. These women, along with other team members, mastered the intricacies of coding and scientific computing, becoming vital to WEIZAC’s success. The chapter tells the personal story of these women and delves deeper into their specific contributions, highlighting how their expertise helped propel this groundbreaking project.
