Climate change is an inevitable occurrence that reduces the productivity of fisheries based on culture and open-water aquaculture ponds. It drives fish populations out of their native environments, changing biodiversity, ecosystems, and world fish output, posing a severe threat to global food security. Numerous climatic phenomena, such as cyclones, floods, droughts, global warming, ocean acidification, variations in salinity, rainfall, and sea level rise, might pose a threat to aquaculture. As a result, these environmental effects must all be considerably mitigated. Coastal and marine farming is more impacted than freshwater aquaculture. Many adaptations and mitigation strategies are being put into practice to counteract the consequences of climate change, with an emphasis on the future needs for reasonably priced protein. Some strategies for adapting to climate change in aquaculture include selective breeding, species diversification, IMTA (integrated multi-trophic aquaculture), RAS (recirculatory aquaculture system), aquaponics, and expanding seafood farming. These strategies have the potential to boost aquaculture productivity and maintain environmental sustainability.
