The establishment of global food security is crucial for ensuring equitable access to nutritious food sources for every individual, promoting and maintaining their overall health and well-being. The stability of food supply chains is severely threatened by rapid climate change and extreme climate events. Traditional food practices and preservation methods owned by different communities have enabled the people to survive in disastrous situations. Those traditional practices impose a positive impact on the environment, however, when the human population increased, the ability to cater to the requirements alone through traditional knowledge and practices became quite difficult. Modern food processing and preservation activities, on the other hand, offer numerous benefits including; increased efficiency, maintenance of the product quality, etc. Therefore, in the process of achieving food security, a combination of both traditional and modern knowledge is considered a promising, efficient, and sustainable strategy. Promoting home gardening and community gardening is important to popularize the underutilized crops that allow less complicated supply chains that might survive in disastrous climate events. The aforementioned strategies are vital in establishing global food security, even in the face of the consequences brought about by rapid climate changes and extreme climate events.
