摘要

Nanotechnology, the science of manipulating and controlling matter at dimensions between 1 and 100 nm, represents a revolutionary advancement in technology and science. This chapter explores the foundational principles and historical evolution of nanotechnology, tracing its development from theoretical concepts to practical applications. At the nanoscale, materials exhibit unique physical, chemical, and biological properties, differing significantly from their macroscopic counterparts. Nanotechnology is revolutionizing agricultural pest control by offering innovative solutions to enhance crop protection and productivity. At the nanoscale, materials exhibit unique properties that can be harnessed to develop efficient, targeted, and sustainable pest management strategies. Nanoparticles and nanomaterials are employed to create advanced formulations of pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides with improved efficacy and reduced environmental impact. These nano-formulations enhance the solubility, stability, and controlled release of active ingredients, ensuring precise targeting of pests while minimizing harm to nontarget organisms and ecosystems. Furthermore, nanotechnology enables the development of biopesticides, incorporating natural pest control agents at the nanoscale for enhanced effectiveness and environmental safety. The integration of nanotechnology in precision agriculture facilitates site-specific pest management, optimizing resource use and minimizing environmental footprint. However, the adoption of nanotechnology in agriculture also presents challenges, such as potential risks to human health and the environment, regulatory hurdles, and public acceptance. Ongoing research and interdisciplinary collaboration are crucial to address these challenges and unlock the full potential of nanotechnology in sustainable agricultural pest control.
