Blockchain’s uses into non-financial use-cases is a hot topic of interest. It has been gaining momentum ever since Bitcoin debuted the technology. One important sector where blockchain is anticipated to have a big advantage is healthcare, where copious amounts of data are being continuously generated. Researchers and practitioners in the field of health-informatics always struggle to keep up with the rapid growth and relative novelty of this field due to the volume and velocity of data being generated daily. Real-world applications of blockchain technology are already having a big influence on the computerized healthcare sector, where it has emerged as a revolutionary force. The management of patient data, clinical trials, pharmaceutical supply-chains, telemedicine, and health-data-interchange are being revolutionized by these technologies in healthcare companies. This chapter will investigate generative AI for enhanced diagnostics, patient-specific treatment plans, and enhanced decision making in healthcare by (a) examining some top practical applications of blockchain technology in healthcare companies, supported by real-world examples. (b) offering case studies that employ generative AI technology in the healthcare sector, and (c) assessing the benefits of deploying AI in the healthcare.
