Recent Trends and Challenges of Biomaterials for Tissue Regeneration

This chapter shows new trends and perspectives on tissue regeneration. Involving gene therapy in tissue regeneration is considered a promising method to enhance tissue regeneration with minimum immunological response. Artificial intelligence is a new way applied recently in regenerative medicine using big data to reduce the time and cost of experimental tests of new biomaterials and drugs. The chapter refers to potential new trends, such as the development of new biomaterials, 3D bioprinting technique, and using of stem cells, and consequently genetically modified stem cells in the tissue engineering field. Finally, the authors present their view about the possibility of fabricating fully functional organs in the future.
