Targeted Therapy of Mitochondrial Bioenergetics Dysfunction in Patients After Overcoming COVID-19

In 2020 year, the WHO declared a global pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which modulates the metabolism and bioenergetics of mitochondria, negatively affecting the endogenous production of coenzyme Q10 in the body. Vaccination is believed to be the most effective strategy for preventing the disease COVID-19. New strategies for targeted therapy of patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome include supplementation with coenzyme Q10 and high-altitude spa rehabilitation. Promising therapeutic strategies for the disease COVID-19 include plasma therapy and mitochondrial transplantation. Additional studies are needed to clarify the pathobiochemical mechanisms of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and to apply the above strategies in clinical medicine.
