Resilience in Muslim Women Living with HIV

  • Azahah Abu Hassan Shaari

摘要

Muslim women living with HIV face unique challenges due to the intersectionality of religion, culture, gender, and illness. Resilience is viewed as a dynamic process that helps individuals cope with psychological, social, and health-related obstacles that arise from living with HIV. For Muslim women living with HIV, religious beliefs and practices often serve as a source of strength and hope during adversity. However, these women also encounter issues related to stigma and exclusion within society and healthcare settings. This chapter’s objective is to investigate what it means to be resilient from the perspective of Muslim women who are living with HIV. It will investigate the ways in which Islamic teachings and cultural traditions have an impact on their capacity to triumph over obstacles. The resiliency of Muslim women in the face of HIV, which is a huge issue that impacts different communities across the globe in a variety of different ways, will be the primary topic of this discussion. In addition, it is vital to place an emphasis on resiliency since doing so changes the narrative from one of disease and victimisation to one of empowerment, agency, and tenacity.
