Evaluation of the Efficient Use of Building Envelope Materials of Educational Institutions to Attain Optimal Energy Efficiency

The primary aim of this study is to evaluate the material performance of building envelopes on energy consumption, with a specific focus on educational institutions. The annual energy consumption of the buildings was also investigated to justify the values. The data obtained from five distinct buildings reveal varying levels of energy efficiency in their envelopes, ranging from 29.45 W/m2K to 53.32 W/m2K. The energy consumption ratio per unit area of the structure supports these findings. Furthermore, it was identified that material selection, window-to-wall ratio, and proper configuration of shading devices play a vital role in the total ETTV. The optimization also identified that structures can lessen the ETTV by considering parameters such as fenestration areas and configuring shading devices. This research contributes to the effective implementation of sustainable design principles in building envelopes for future developments, providing valuable insights for enhancing energy efficiency in educational institutions and beyond.
