Molecular biology overlaps the fields of biology and chemistry. It mainly aims at understanding the interactions between a cell’s various systems, including the interrelationship of DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis, and uncovering how these interactions are regulated. Researchers in molecular biology use specific techniques native to molecular biology. However, there is considerable diffusion of ideas from other disciplines, such as genetics and biochemistry; there does not seem to be a clear boundary that delineates these fields anymore as the researchers borrow techniques and methodologies from all these related fields.
