Proteomics: A Key to Unlocking the Biomarkers and Drug Discovery for Metabolic Syndrome

Proteomics has emerged as a powerful technology for unraveling the molecular complexities underlying in a multifactorial metabolic syndrome, which is characterized by obesity, insulin resistance, dyslipidemiaDyslipidemia, and hypertension. High-throughput techniques such as mass spectrometry enable comprehensive profiling of the proteome, facilitating the discovery of potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for metabolic syndrome. Multiple proteomic studies have identified the dysregulated proteins, post-translational modifications, and protein networks implicated in metabolic pathways such as insulin signaling, lipid metabolismLipid metabolism, inflammation, and oxidative stress. Insights from proteomic analyses have enhanced our understanding of disease mechanisms, highlighting critical proteins and pathways that drive metabolic dysfunction and risk of cardiovascular diseases in affected individuals. Integrating proteomic data with clinical parameters holds promise for advancing diagnostic accuracy and improving the therapeutic outcomes in metabolic syndrome. However, the sustained research in proteomics is essential for translating discoveries into clinical applications and to mitigate the global health burden associated with metabolic syndrome.
