摘要

Cassia angustifolia, also known as Indian Senna, is a member of the Fabaceae (Leguminosae) family: a plant species of great importance in medicine and herbal remedies. Senna leaves are commonly used as a natural laxative, due to their high sennoside anthraquinone derivative content, which helps promote bowel movements and relieve constipation. Cassia angustifolia is used to treat various digestive disorders, such as indigestion and bloating. The cultivation of senna is expanding in India which is due to its importance for the pharmaceutical industry. Senna varieties have enabled India to meet the demands of international medicinal markets.
