Putranjiva roxburghii Wall.
摘要
Putranjiva roxburghii Wall. is a medium-sized evergreen tree from the family Putranjivaceae. It thrives in damp evergreen forests and has a number of useful characteristics. This tree contains mustard oils, terpenoids, tannins, phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, and glycosidic compounds, which give it anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, cytotoxic, antinociceptive, antipyretic, antiemetic, hypoglycemic, larvicidal, radioprotective, anthelmintic, analgesic, aphrodisiac, cytogenetic toxicity, and CNS depressant properties. This chapter summarises the research on the pharmacological profile, chemical composition, and ethnomedical uses of P. roxburghii. In view of the prospective pharmaceutical usage of the species, focus is laid on the anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anthelmintic, antihyperlipidemic, hepatoprotective, antibacterial, and diuretic properties.
