P. lanceolata has numerous resourceful applications that make it a valuable reserve. In India, it has been used in the preparation of herbal teas, bread, spices, and even as a vegetable, showcasing its significance in culinary and medicinal domains. Due to its rich content of bioactive compounds, it plays an important role in traditional medicine, offering potential remedies for inflammation, helminthic infections, obesity, cytotoxicity, and microbial diseases. This diverse range of applications highlights its potential as a source of novel pharmaceuticals. As a forage, it contributes to improved milk production and quality, while it also demonstrates a capacity to reduce nitrite leaching.
