The Future: Challenges of Tomorrow for European Post-industrial Landscapes
摘要
Having examined the historical context and current state of these landscapes in the previous chapters, we now turn to the future and the myriad challenges that lie ahead. As these regions leave their industrial past behind, they face a complex interplay of environmental, social, economic and cultural issues that require comprehensive and innovative solutions. Addressing these challenges requires an integrated approach that utilises theoretical insights and empirical evidence. Sustainable remediation strategies must consider environmental, social, economic and cultural dimensions. Collaboration between different stakeholders, including local communities, governments and private companies, is essential for transforming these neglected areas into vibrant, resilient communities that can thrive in the twenty-first century. The following sections of this chapter examine the specific challenges facing European post-industrial landscapes in order to explore possible pathways for sustainable development. Through a comprehensive analysis, this chapter aims to contribute to the ongoing discourse on the future of post-industrial landscapes and the pursuit of sustainable, equitable and inclusive urban regeneration.
