The cosmic abundance of bromine is very low. According to Lodders (2003) the bromine abundance in the solar system is 102.59, compared to 1012 for hydrogen. On the same scale the chlorine abundance is 105.26. This abundance is not directly measured in the sun, but based on determinations on chondrites. No spectroscopic measurements for bromine are known. As a result of these low abundances very little information is available on bromine concentrations, and consequently even less, on bromine isotope ratios. Still, a few studies are known where the ratio of the stable bromine isotopes in extraterrestrial material have been determined.
