The velocity of twin boundaries is estimated in the framework of continuum mechanics using the internal variables approach. It is shown that the slow motion of twin boundaries can be reproduced using a single internal variable. To comprehend the fast dynamics of twin boundaries, the concept of dual internal variables is employed.
