Czech University Students and BDSM: Tolerance and Personal Experience

The last chapter of this book presents the views and experiences of Czech university students with consensual sexual violence. This group was chosen deliberately, as it can be presumed that university students constitute a relatively tolerant group regarding various alternative phenomena and practices as opposed to the general population. Although it was not possible in this book to compare the results of the survey of the Czech population with the sample of university students, the results indicate a certain higher degree of tolerance and acceptance of BDSM in questions that were posed to both sets of respondents in nearly or completely identical manner. We once again observed a strong link between the assessment of BDSM and combat sports when compared to other forms of violence. Therefore, the group of university students, much like the research into the Czech adult population, also corroborated the author’s long-standing thesis concerning the so-called double legitimacy of violence.
