Beyond Textbooks: A Novel Workflow for Customized Vocabulary Sheet Generation with Large Language Models

Learning vocabulary in context is crucial for effective language acquisition. While existing vocabulary learning tools like Quizlet and eJOY English help organize vocabulary sets, they often lack contextual explanations that clarify a word’s meaning and usage. We propose a novel workflow powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) to generate customized vocabulary sheets with contextual explanations and examples. Users input content in various formats, such as text, PDF files, or video transcripts. The LLM then identifies relevant vocabulary and provides definitions, pronunciation, synonyms, antonyms, and, most importantly, context-specific explanations and usage examples. This approach leverages the ability of LLMs to understand and generate human-like text, enabling a more immersive and compelling vocabulary learning experience.
