Loss-Aware Adaptive Load Balancing Scheme for IoT-Enabled WBANs with QoS-Factor

摘要

Mobility of Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) influences the topology of intra IoT-enabled BAN and inter IoT-enabled BAN communication, leading to heavy packet loss and decreasing the throughput of the network. On the other hand, in critical emergency situations, the limited resources of WBANs degrade the network performance significantly. Therefore, to address it, we propose LALB, a packet loss detection algorithm due to the mobility of WBANs. Consequently, due to link quality degradation, the effective load in intra IoT-enabled BAN and inter IoT-enabled BAN communication increases, and power consumption also increases. However, in order to minimize the effects of additional load and power consumption in WBANs, we design a joint optimization framework to optimize the network performance. We characterize the LALB framework mathematically and assess its performance following extensive simulations. The results produce significant performance advancement in terms of power consumption and throughput.
