Reimagining Filmmaking Education in Saudi Arabia Through the Use of AI
摘要
Screening of films. While remaining a fairly small industry, the Saudi Arabian cinema sector continues to grow, actively supported by the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, witnessing impressive progress and attracting international attention. The Bachelor of Science in Cinematic Arts, launched by an all-female private Effat University in 2013, remains the first and only institution in Saudi Arabia to provide a film-related degree. This chapter will review the emerging popularity of AI in Saudi Arabian film educational settings and address the challenges and opportunities that arise with the variety of its applications. While recognizing the value of AI in such aspects as assisting students with generating narrative ideas, writing scripts of creating images for production design mood boards, there are also associated risks, such as the loss of creativity, limitation in understanding the context, and the increasing dehumanization of practice-based tasks, such as editing.
