In this chapter, we focus on the topics of drug prevention and drug treatment. The first section of this chapter will explore the topic of drug prevention through a focused analysis of the American D.A.R.E. drug education program. D.A.R.E. will be critically evaluated and then compared and contrasted with a Canadian drug education program known as V.I.P. After this, in the third section of this chapter D.A.R.E. will be compared and contrasted with two UK education and prevention programs: FRANK and D: Side. In the final section of this chapter we will engage in an international exploration of drug treatment policies found around the world. The focus of this section will be on one particular published study that attempts to engage in a cross-national comparative analysis of drug treatment policy. However, towards the end of the section, we will move beyond this particular study and engage in a focused comparison of compulsory drug treatment policies in China and Sweden.

摘要
