From Latin American to the New Native American Identity: The Importance of History of Science in the Construction of the Who We Are

This provocative essay is inspired by the professional practices of Juan Jose Saldaña. It argues that the making of a new identity for the region, a Native American identity that transcends and incorporates its Latin traditions, is interlinked with the rise of the knowledge field, sciencediplomacy. As such, very much in light with the ideas and ideals of Juan Jose Saldaña, a needed opportunity emerges for the history of sciences, that of informing and training the professionals in this strategic field for nations and cultures.
