Intellectual Collaboration at the Early Stage of the Social and Historical Studies of Science and Technology in Venezuela

We are concerned with a specific type of knowledge, namely academic knowledge, produced in one of the world’s regions in and about specific institutions dedicated to research and teaching. In the 1980s and 1990s, a group of scholars from several Latin American countries agreed to participate in the creation of the field of history of science and technology in Latin America. In 1982, the Latin American Society for the History of Science and Technology (LASHST) came into being and in 1984 the Quipu journal was founded, serving as the official journal of the Society. We review the Venezuelan participation in Quipu from issue 1 in 1984 to its demise in 2001.
