Networks of Latin American Historians of Medicine and Public Health and Their International Visibility

The chapter discusses how, after a group of academics—whose main leader was Professor Juan José Saldaña—convened historians of science in Latin America and the Caribbean to organize themselves and disseminate the results of their research internationally, and thus contribute to a non-ethnocentric history of science, historians of medicine and public health have been involved in this process. It analyzes the influence that Latin American and international congresses on the history of science and technology had on the creation of a network of historians of medicine and public health in Latin America and the Caribbean, and how this has contributed to their international visibility.
