Historical and Political Context
摘要
This chapter presents a comprehensive analysis of Kosovo’s historical and political context, with a particular focus on the enduring legacy of ethnic conflict and the role of international intervention in shaping its current political landscape. This chapter traces the roots of ethnic tensions that culminated in the Kosovo War and then considers the role of the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) in stabilizing the region and laying the groundwork for state-building. Furthermore, the chapter examines the ongoing challenges of post-conflict transformation, including the process of normalization with Serbia, the complexities of governance in a partially recognized state, and the impact of international oversight. By examining these critical phases—conflict legacy, international administration, and post-conflict governance—the chapter provides essential insights into the contemporary political dynamics of Kosovo, highlighting the challenges and opportunities in its journey toward democratic consolidation and international integration. This analysis is crucial for understanding the ideological and governance structures that continue to evolve in Kosovo’s fragile and complex political environment.
