Chris Morris has written about all types of popular music across a range of publications, including Rolling Stone, Los Angeles Reader, Los Angeles Times, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, Spin and Mojo. He has been a radio DJ since the late 1960s and has written books about Bob Dylan and Los Lobos. His long history with the music industry has led to him providing re-issue liner notes for several projects, as well as contributing obituaries for many prominent musicians for various publications. This interview, a conversation between Morris and Australian musician John Willsteed, is a window into the early years Morris spent in Los Angeles. He discusses his love of the punk rock scene, his role as a reporter/commentator on the scene as well as his contribution to the perception of L.A., and Hollywood in particular, as a city in the throes of cultural change.
