Cultures of the Planetarium

Planetaria are host to a wide range of cultural activities and experiments. This chapter demonstrates some of the performances that have been put on in planetaria for a variety of purposes. Some have been for a didactic purpose, to better explain planetary motion, or the way in which other cultures understand the sky. Others have been to experiment with new forms of artistic expression, taking advantage of the shapes, colour and motions that are able to be produced by the planetarium projector, a domed room and human creativity.
