Management of Hematological Toxicity in Breast Cancer Patients

  • Fatoş Dilan Köseoğlu

摘要

Breast cancer is the most common and deadly form of cancer worldwide. The high fatality rate is associated with cardiopulmonary complications, and multisystem organ failure that are primarily caused by acute complications such as cytopenias and opportunistic infections. Hematological complications can be observed both before and after cancer treatment. Recent development of targeted therapies and individual treatment approaches in breast cancer enabled improved long-term survival rates. However, rising rates of secondary myeloid malignancies in this steadily growing population of cancer survivors are a major concern. Long-term medical follow-up is needed for breast cancer survivors regarding secondary cancers.
