Very recently, IPCC has recommended climate scientists to include urban planning in their climate actions. This chapter discusses climate responsive GHG accounting principles and values that can be attributed to human needs relative to the integration platforms which integrate urban planning, city climate planning and digital planning. Environmentally sounder ways of manipulating the climate of cities should be based on the integration platforms and their competiveness in value chain. It is evident that there is a big gap between planners’ and climate scientists’ approaches to solve the climate crisis facing us. Sometimes there is the contradiction of values. We must now turn to other opportunities and co-benefits of integration of our efforts. Towns and cities form the backdrop to the lives of a rapidly increasing number of people around the planet. This chapter is about how planners respond to the climate issues around us and role of urban climate planners. The chapter develops an integrated concept and methodology for urban planning based on climate-responsive principles and values for LCA and consumption/needs-based GHG accounting system. Close collaboration and strong partnerships between these two professionals are integral to catalyze climate action in cities, to ensure that the benefits of sustainable and inclusive development are enjoyed by all of society. To do so, climate action planning, strategic assessment of climate change and climate impact assessment should be integral part of urban planning process. The other feature of integrated sustainable urban planning is digital technology application in planning practice. This chapter will provide a foundation for crafting an urban climate planner certification program which could help accelerate the green transition.
