Research Beyond Theory: Innovation for the Future We have found that LCA and consumption-based approach to cities could reduce more GHG emissions by consumer’s participation. New research starts with a great idea. The future of GHG accounting and reporting will be characterized by manifold activities. There is a need for future research efforts which will provide information and knowledge relevant to many of today’s unanswered questions. This chapter describes research needs associated with LCA and consumption/needs-based GHG accounting. The chapter includes research needs for convergence of human needs and climate change, GHG accounting components, framework, methodology, tools, digital technology applications, and GHG accounting and reporting policy relative to the protocol.
