The Villagers Before WWII
摘要
This chapter introduces the reader to the set of people who grew up in a pre-WWII village and whose lives were marked by the war and the transition to state socialism. Born between 1923 and 1931, the life accounts covered in this chapter comprise four women and two men. They range from the daughter of a well-off family to the offspring of a servant, and the group is made up of three Romanians, two Germans, and a Roma.
