Conclusions and Implications for Theory and Policy

  • Katie Wright

摘要

This chapter examines what this research adds to existing scholarship on masculinities, fathering practices and migrant wellbeing and considers implications for policy. It suggests that more research is needed examining the processes through which constructions of masculinities, social norms surrounding fatherhood and practices of fathering are transferred. Second, it argues that there is a need for policy interventions to support international migrant families by adopting intergenerational relations perspectives. This includes attention to gendered dimensions when designing family reunification schemes as well as provision of support during crucial life transitions to improve the human wellbeing outcomes of migrant families.
