This study presents quantitative and scientometric analyses of the scientific literature based related to imaginary, exotic and futuristic geographies, maps and landscapes. The results of the analyses indicate that (a) geography is more relevant in the literature of “exotic landscapes” than that of “exotic spaces”, (b) political dimensions are more important in the literature about imagined landscapes rather than in that related to imaginary geographies, (c) the USA and the UK have pivotal roles in the number of publications in the fields of imaginary geographies and cartographies, although new hubs of research activity in these fields are increasingly located in Asian countries, (d) among the most recent and noticeable changes in the literature of “future geography” is the increase in publications related to psychology/pedagogy and ecology/biology.

摘要
