In this work, the question of how algorithmic art can change the view of landscape is explored. Due to the growing relevance of algorithms in communication processes and the increasing integration of algorithms in the processes of creating art, the functional system of art must also respond to the question of how to evaluate the use of algorithms. Following systems theory and cybernetics and a form-theoretical concept of landscape, algorithmic art creates neo-deviant forms of landscapes by adopting computational methods and persists on a level of ironic originality. Ironic originality arises from the fact that algorithms, in their divinatory mode of operation, are trained not to allow any deviance, yet expose themselves precisely through this lack of authenticity. However, this does not mean a devaluation of this art form, which is illustrated in this work with some examples using the Midjourney software. Rather, it is more important to analyse the presentation of landscape-related observations and their communication critically and reflexively to focus on the constant renegotiation of forms as landscape.
