Future developments of urban spaces are of significant importance for society as a whole and for academia. Media images of urban space strongly influence the imagination of many people and thus their urban framework towards action. In this paper, the media image of the futuristic city is to be juxtaposed with the concept ‘Right to the City’ to examine the integration and prioritization of elements from Right to the City in the futuristic city. We explore this juxtaposition through quantitative image analysis and a qualitative content analysis of images and websites popular on the internet. Our results show a weak prioritization and integration of elements of the Right to the City in the futuristic city. At the same time, we were able to determine that the futuristic city could also be the beginning of the Right to the City thus concluding that the production of urban space is constantly negotiable.

摘要
