All over the world, humans have often found it attractive, soothing or challenging to imagine of unreal landscapes and spaces. From ancient mythologies to medieval legends and futuristic landscapes, from cartographic depictions of exotic landscapes and seascapes in cartographic imagination through the ages to bold ideas and visions in landscape architecture, visions of paradisiacal or hellish spaces, endowed with weird qualities or functions have always surfaced in the literature, in science and in the arts. Scientists, architects, engineers, filmmakers, painters, writers and others have imagined landscapes endowed with properties that are well beyond the established (or “normal”) views and attitudes about landscapes and spaces and hence all these views are “deviant”.

摘要

Scientists, architects, engineers, filmmakers, painters, writers and others have imagined landscapes endowed with properties that are well beyond the established (or “normal”) views and attitudes about landscapes and spaces and hence all these views are “deviant”.
