Green Process Technologies: A Necessity for a Sustainable Future and Economic Growth
摘要
The increased demand for natural resources has soared in recent technological and societal growth and development. The anthropogenic process has led to the deterioration of environmental standards without considering the negative consequences. To minimize these detrimental effects that have been in action for so long, green process technologies (GPT) can be implemented to upgrade the economy alongside advancing environmental and societal well-being. In terms of sustainability, these technologies play a vital role in dealing with (a) climate change, (b) green energy efficiency and usage, and (c) access to clean and safe drinking water and food, which are essential for a healthy life. By incorporating environment-friendly practices across various industries, green process technologies aim to minimize the global carbon footprint of different industrial processes. The principle of reuse and recycling also forms a cornerstone for sustainable practices to reduce the overconsumption of raw materials, thereby extending the lifetime of the same through refurbishment, remanufacturing, and repurposing. Advanced recycling technologies, sensor technologies to analyze and remotely operate the environmental metrics, bio-remediation, and precision agriculture are the various building blocks of this approach toward a sustainable future. These methods play pivotal roles in fostering economic growth. The alignment of ecological systems and financial structures in the sustainable development goals reinforces the necessity for transitioning toward a green economy. In navigating the intertwined challenges of ecology and economy, a green economy emerges as a guiding principle to achieve a harmonious equilibrium between environmental responsibility and socio-economic advancement.
