Ontological Partition

“I am first the guest of this other: world, body, language.” The guest of this other is the very experience of bodily existence—as Nancy states several times in his text dedicated to Hegel. There, as we have had the chance to see, the philosopher rethinks the servant-master relationship not to enclose it within a dialectic of the negative, but rather to open it up to the singular constitution that every other—being an other—shares. From the deconstruction of the paradigm of the subject—raised by Nancy’s critique of the Cartesian ego cogito—to the analyses carried out on the other as the inoperative outside standing out against the sense of the inside, we are led to the place where precisely the inside/outside of existence unfolds and is exposed, namely the body.
