摘要

This chapter investigates the killing of feminist activists in Latin America. Making use of a quantitative–qualitative methodology, we investigate patterns in the variety of political feminicides in the region. Drawing on an original dataset from publicly available information, we gathered results from 161 activists killed between 2015 and 2022. We constructed variables concerning the victims, their murders, and national contexts. We then assessed the diversity of victims’ profiles employing Multiple Correspondence Analysis. Our main purpose was to empirically and conceptually discuss political feminicides in Latin America. We concluded that the ways in which violence against women activists manifests itself in Latin America are diverse. Yet, all these different forms of violence share one important feature: just like the criminalisation of activists, the killing of women activists is aimed at the suppression of movements.
