摘要

Multiple advances in technology are now available to aid in diabetes management, especially in the geriatric population. mHealth technology, which uses mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets, or wearable devices to improve diabetes management in older adults, is of particular interest due to the growing aging population and the need for innovative solutions to improve their health and quality of life. Continuous glucose monitors offer a convenient way for older adults to measure their blood glucose and reduce the need for painful fingersticks. Insulin pumps offer flexible dosing and patient-specific basal rates to minimize hypoglycemia risk and improve A1C. Smart insulin pens store information on administered insulin doses, missed insulin doses, and some offer dose calculation assistance. These devices can provide comprehensive information to the patient, caregivers, and healthcare providers, allowing for a more thorough assessment and approach to diabetes care.
