On Universal Architecture of Software Components for Validation and Analysis of Building BIM Models

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a process that allows the creation of building models containing both geometric and non-geometric data. Unlike 2D or 3D CAD systems, BIM provides information not only to the AEC industry but also to building approval authorities. For these authorities to use building models created by BIM processes, data platforms must be developed to work with such models. The implementation of BIM processes into building approval procedures is currently in progress in multiple countries. The amount of information from building models used for building approval processes varies from one country to another. However, a common objective is to utilize as much information from building models as possible for approval processes. The most common goal is to develop automated tools for verifying the design of buildings in built-up areas in accordance with regulatory requirements. In this article, we propose components for verifying a building model against zoning regulations. For the analysis, a building models at Level of Detail 100 and 200 was created, and software components for validation and analysis were designed to carry out the building verification against the zoning plan. This analysis tool automates the process of verifying buildings against the zoning plan, resulting in shorter administrative processes for building approvals.
